If you are anything like me you can't wait for fig season! Sweet, delicious yumminess that makes you go back for more!
But did you know that inside almost every fig is a dead wasp? The flowers of a fig are inside it, so to get fertilised the fig wasp must enter into the fig. Sounds gross, but don't worry the wasp turns into protein and is absorbed by the flesh of the fig and not all figs have wasps inside them! Check out this video which explains the process really well.
Fortunately for us figs remain delicious and they are packed full of vitamins and minerals: Figs are rich in Vitamins A, B1 and B2, manganese and potassium, magnesium, copper, iron, and phosphorus.
