Places To Eat When You Visit Mudgee

As you wind down the road to Mudgee you will see beautiful countryside with farms and wineries scattered throughout where artisan producers make cheese, relish and jams, grow olives, collect honey and make the finest sourdough you will ever eat. To compliment this there are over 40 wineries to visit where some of Mudgee's finest restaurants can be found.

We are sharing our favourites from a locals perspective that we visit over and over and hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

Great Coffee and Breakfast

  1. Corner Store - You can find this little gem on the corner of Horatio and Lewis Streets where they serve delicious breakfast which includes Farmer Brown pastured eggs, local smoky bacon, fresh bread, local sourdough, Mudgee mushrooms and house made relish. Their coffee from Fish River Roasters combined with quality cows milk, BonSoy and Milk Lab almond is the best in Mudgee.

  2. Cafe 89 - Head to 89 Market Street to enjoy coffee, breakfast and lunch made from local ingredients offered on their seasonal menu. Enjoy cakes and slices including a gluten free range with your coffee.

  3. The Coffee House at Parkview - Sit in the heated gardens or their air conditioned dining room and indulge in breakfast with a difference. Crumbed mac & cheese, tomato passata, poached eggs, prosciutto wrapped asparagus & hollandaise or ricotta, parmesan & dill fritters with smoked salmon. Try their house made scones and jam for morning tea.

Our Little Secrets

  1. Parking Lot Cafe - Head to the Woolworths parking lot to enjoy a breakfast or lunch during the day and then on Friday and Saturday nights indulge in a menu of fabulous tapas. Cauliflower frittas with housemade chilli sauce, ricotta stuffed chicken mignon with salse verde or slow cooked BBQ brisket and slaw with hot sweet & sour cabbage are among your choices. Compliment your plate with Lowe wines, Burnbrae wines or a good choice of beer and spirits. Bookings are recommended.

  2. Thai to You @ Gulgong - If you are looking for amazing Thai food you can't go past this place. Just a 20 minute drive down the Castlereagh Highway to Gulgong, Thai to You is the best Thai food I have ever eaten. Green curry prawns is my absolute favourite but a close second is the lamb cutlets and soft-shell crab fried rice. Bookings are essential as it is only a small restaurant, totally well worth the drive!

  3. Indigiearth Warakirri Dining Experience - Immerse yourself in the beauty of Australian native foods, botanicals, culture and rituals at this 5-course degustation dining experience. This is bush tucker dining at its finest, incorporating seafood, game meats, rainforest fruits, desert delights, and native beverages. Limited to 16 guests per night, this intimate dining experience showcases the beauty of 60,000 years of culture. Bookings essential.
